Mission
The brand's mission is to encourage more women and girls to learn about tech and computer programming by using visual design and storytelling to shift the perception of females and technology.

Concept
I immediately had the image of the Mona Lisa sitting at a laptop as my logo concept. I didn't need to collect any other ideas since I was convinced this expressed the concept of the brand best. So I did not need a moodboard. I knew that something very figurative, a mascot, would work really well with this brand.

The actual Mona Lisa seemed a little too classical and serious as the brand mascot, so I began trying to find a more playful design. Lots of sketches followed.

I figured a circular shape for the text would give a more playful feeling.

Typography

My idea for the logo font changed completely. Initially, I imagined a very classic, slim, serif font. I thought that would be in tune with the Mona Lisa. I used the free logo generator by "withoomph.com" to test it. On its own this looked quite good. But when I had the logo symbol illustrated, the serif font looked totally wrong. I needed something to fit the illustration style, which meant a hand drawn font. Even hand drawn, the serif did not look right and a very minimal sans-serif worked best.

I wanted "geekin" to stand out from the familiar name of Mona Lisa. It was made bold and done in a different handwritten style.

Finally, I worked with an illustrator to draw a Mona Lisa that was less serious and feminine.

The circular word mark does look better with the mascot.

Here is the colour palette and several colour versions of the final illustration.

I could use some help with the colour palette. Does anyone have suggestions?
For example, I don't think the orange fits in well. But the yellow unexpectedly works really well in conveying a bright fresh approach.

Does it work?

Which one do you think works best, and do you have any suggestions for improvement?
