First of all I want to thank our teacher, Gabrielle. These videos have taught me so much and I'll be sure to rewatch certain parts because there was so much new information for me that I'm sure I've forgotten to pay attention to certain points in my drawing for this project. I'm pretty new to drawing, but just following the tips from this lesson for the first time, I can see an enormous improvement in my portraits.
My reference was this picture of Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper in BBC Sherlock:
I turned it black and white because I find it easier to see the light/dark contrast that way. With colours it can be tricky.
Many hours later and after completely erasing and redrawing her mouth, which I had placed too high and which gave me a lot of difficulty even when it was more or less in the right place, this is the result.
I will definitely practise these techniques more in the future and I may update this project later with more drawings. And I'm planning to buy a kneaded eraser and eraser pencil, which will probably make things a little easier :)
