Modern Watercolor Fun

Hi, class!

My name is Alex. I work fulltime for a Commerical Interior Designer, and I work freelance in Graphic and Web Design. I am passionate about letterforms, and I especially love to create with my hands. I've followed Ana Victoria on Instagram for over a year, and I was estactic to learn she had a Skillshare Class.

I started with the warmup using a pan set.

After spending more time working on precision and pulse, I worked on a monochromatic design.

The possibilites are endless with this method. I am excited to work more on this technique.

Now for the Jellyfish assignment. This is where I realized a size 0 or 00 brush IS A MUST. Out of all my brushes, I couldn't find these little guys. Well, they definitely in my Amazon shopping cart now!

Some brushes work better than others for the splatter technique. Regardless, I am all for having fun with texture.

Now for the big one - the one where I made the most mess, but had the most fun.

For this project I used my pan set, bombay ink, bleach, salt, white acrylic, white ink, as well as a Craftsmart Gold paint pen. To create lettering shadows, I used a 6B pencil. I will certainly try this technique again once the 0 and 00 brushes arrive. I think fine lines are ideal for this project.

"I'VE LOVED THE STARS TOO FONDLY TO BE FEARFUL OF THE NIGHT."

Overall, I had a blast with this class and so did my 6 year old. He sat beside me with his own supplies as we tried out numerous paint-ink-additive mixtures. He said it was like we were conducting a science experiment.

I look forward to seeing everyone's creations! Thanks for checking out mine!
