Modern Calligraphy Transformation

Day Two & Three:

I did a LOT more practice and did a title design for an old illustration I did a while back. I have been wanting to add the title but can never find good enough fonts.

Here is how the final turned out, I really like the overall feel and placement, but I feel like the text can use a little tweeking. Specifically the way the two T's are crossed in the word "Little". I haven't been able to do much practice after this but I plan to do more, I want to do some signs for a booth I am selling at next weekend.

I wish I had more time to practice!

Day One:

Okay, here are pictures from the first day of practice.

I find it very difficult to write on the tracing paper, or perhaps just more awkward. I was trying to copy the letters from the printout. And then I tried doing them straight and italicized.

I also did some lettering for one of my illustrations, I did it first on grid paper then traced over and fixed it digitally.

I'm hoping to do more illustrations with text in the future.

Day 00:

So here is an example of some of the stuff I was doing right before I started the class, I've only been at it for a couple of days but I normally write in cursive so I just played around with that. I also have a little bit of experience with nib pens for inking drawings.

So far I have read through the first part and I am interested in seeing how the class progresses. I really want to improve my calligraphy skills and learn how to add flourishes to my letters.

Also this is my first class on here and I am still trying to figure it all out.
