Mixtape Artwork

Hello there!
I wanted to improve my color-picking-skills for a while now, so I'm very excited about this class.

About the artwork:

I produced this cover pretty quickly for a recent mixtape that I made. I like the contrast and simplicity, but I think that a broader and more diverse color-palette will result in artwork with some more depth and personality.

Would love to get some feedback.
Oh, and if your interested about the music behind the cover, you can listen to it on Soundcloud.

And the actual design:

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE 1: COLOR PALETTES

Based on the classes and color theories I came up with the following palettes:

UPDATE 2: ARTWORK VARIATIONS

It was a lot of fun, adjusting the artwork based on the color palettes. I really like a couple of them, would love to hear your thoughts.

UPDATE 3: FINALIZE ARTWORK COLORS

Thanks a lot for the feedback everybody, really helpful! Based on the feedback and my own prefered versions, I first took a step back to deside what the hierarchy in the design should be. To visualize this I made some quick notes on a greyscaled version of the artwork:

This was very useful, since it made it clear for me what elements I should and shouldn't emphasize. So, once the hierarchy was sorted out, I too my two favorite versions, switched- and tweeked the colors on some elements, and this is what the final versions look like:

Would love to hear what you guys think, thanks again.
