Mixed Media fun

First off, yay! I enjoyed getting to explore watercolor in Ana's first class. I am excited to have some downtime to complete her newest class.

Masking fluid: If you have never tried the Moltow Masking Marker - add it too your arsenal! I'd love to try a more natural feather color combination with this assignment. The possibilities are endless.

Next, white ink over. This assignment brings back memories of Class 1. I used watercolor, ink, and acrylic.

Clouds: This was alot of fun! Varying the opacity of the white acrylic (diluting with water) helps establish the fluffiness and depth. I had to add some splatter in the background!

I started my clouds at the bottom of the page, so I decided to take a different approach and try to blend this piece into a new project.

Here is the final result:

I wanted to blend the clouds into the "earth". I decided to use the gray and splatter to help merge these two details. Next, I masked around the mountain for a clean edge. For the sky and lettering I used acrylic; I wanted the "fire" to standout from the muted watercolor hues. I used a 00 for the brush lettering. The quote reads: "Sky above me - Earth below me - Fire within me."

As always, thank you for checking out my project! I hope you all have a great time.

I love how relaxed and easygoing your classes are Ana - it's all about experimenting and having fun.
