Misty Mountains

Hey everyone!

First of all I want to say thank you so much to Jonas, this tutorial was super helpful, I've leard quite a few things! You did a great job explaining step by step what you were doing and it was inpiring to listen. But anyway onto my project!

1. I did a few thumbnail sketches first just to see what I'll come up with. I ended up picking up this one because I liked those shapes, they were kinda inspired by stalagmites, just at a much bigger scale.

2. I started to apply basic shapes and silhouettes. I was thinking of looking at the mountains from some sort of a cave, just so to lead the viewers eye more easily.

3. Then I slowly started to put some color into the painting, I was going for the rocky tipe environment. I also defined the shapes a bit more, just to see if I'll like them afterwards.

4. Adding some more color and a blue-ish haze to the bottom of the mountains, to give a feel that there's maybe some watter in the distance.

5. Now the fun part begins! I started to add textures, and also the sky, which I ended up changing later on because I didn't quite like it, it was too bright and saturated.

6. Moar details! Again adding details and refining shapes. I added a green color to the mountains to give them some life, and I also put birds to give a better sense of scale and perspective.

7. And the final step is here. Just put that crazy awesome Sun and add reflections to the rock surfaces, some more atmospheric haze, and I think it's pretty much done!

All in all I am very pleased with the end result, I really liked the class very much. It was a lot of fun doing it and learning new techniques. I will definitely do some more of these in the future!

Here's the end result. Tell me what you thnik! I'd love to hear some comments and critiques!
