Micro Batch Preserving: Peach Jalapeno Sauce

Here's my Video Outline

Talk about YUM! It's an easy sauce to make, you can't find it in stores, and is delicious on a wide variety of food. What am I talking about? Why, it's my Peach Jalapeno Sauce of course!

With farmers markets poping up everywhere, the accessability of very fresh produce is not far away. With micro batch preserving, you do not need any canning equipment, nor hours spent on your feet slaving over the hot stove. What you will end up with is a jar of beautiful preserves that is bursting with flavor!

Let's elevate your home cooking, or wine and cheese event, or just everyday with this multifunctional, easy to make sauce. Peach Jalapeno Sauce is wonderful when used in place of traditional BBQ sauce, both before and after cooking. My favorite is to brush this sauce before cooking onto pork chops, chicken breasts, or sausage links. Tired of cream cheese and crackers? Yea, that makes for a bland snack at best. Put your dallop of cream cheese on your cracker as usual and then add a dab of Peach Jalapeno Sauce to bring that blaaa snack up to something you can't wait for your guests to try! Vanilla ice cream doesn't have to be plain anymore. Add a bit of this sauce to liven it up to something you'll not find in any ice cream palor. This sauce has such a depth of flavor, it elevates the flavors of many foods.

In this class, we will make a micro batch of peach jalapeno sauce. With only 4 ingredients and no special equipment, this can be done by anyone who knows how to use a stove.

I'll also share with you in the class how you can make jam instead of sauce simply by changing 1 simple step and no extra ingredients!

The jalapeno does not add much heat at all! I'd consider this to be Mild in heat. What the jalapeno does is add a wonderful depth in the overall flavor. At first you taste peach which developes to include the pepper flavor with a smidge of heat to contrast nicely with the sweet.

Now it's your turn! Your Micro Batch Preserves: Peach Jalapeno Sauce

You will be making a single jar of sauce or jam. No canning experience is needed as there's no canning process involved!

Supplies needed:

  • 1 - 1.5 lbs peaches (approximately 3 peaches depending on size)
  • 1/2 - 1 jalapeno
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • pot - preferably stainless steel or enameled cast iron
  • large spoon
  • cooking thermometer OR chilled spoon on a plate
  • pint sized jar (since we will not be processing these, you can use any jar with a lid)

Let's see your batch of micro preserves peach jalapeno sauce or jam. Then when you use it, let's see how you use it! Did you eat it on crackers? Chicken? Someway that I didn't mention? Please share!
