Working through the exercises, and these are the rules I've uncovered for myself:

-Sweet & uplifting
-Vintage/Historical designs
-Tells a story
-Childlike/Magical
-Bold colorful shapes, but limited palette
-Pops of detailed patterns

Now I'm going to do some experimental illustrations to play with my rules and see what comes from it.

Experiment 1:

Using an existing sketch of a scarecrow, working on incorporating more vintage cut paper into my design.

I'm diving more into this idea that I want my drawn art to reflect the handmade, traditional artisan crafts and textiles.
