Me on a plate

Me on a plate - student project

Loving this class so far! It's been super helpful (and a lot of fun).

Here's what I ended up with putting together my mood board:

Some themes/patterns in my work: travel/vacation, cats, nostalgia, femininity, romance, Europe. And visible brush strokes, pattern, abstraction/flattening.

For the "me on a plate" exercise, I painted with gouache, my preferred medium.

1. Something my 6-year-old self and current self would love as a tattoo (cat) + draw on a core memory (trip to Seville, Spain):

2. Pulling inspo from one of my fav contemporaries (Kate Pugsley) + a vignette that captures the everyday (grocery shopping):

3. Inspiration from another medium (the movie Aladdin) + self-portrait:

Excited to continue the class! Thanks Andy!
