May - student project

This is the design I came up with!

My cartoon influences were Gravity Falls, Hilda, and Kakeguri

Gravity Falls

I love the scenery, character design, and colors.

I really enjoy the whimsy and innocence in the adventurous spirit. I also love the color and character design.

I enjoy the drama and combination of sexy and innocent. Her innocence for something so dark like gambling. And her effervescence.

I noticed all three of my images were bright, warm colored, with black lines. All are female based and all are smiling. They're expressive, with big eyes and higher energy/high drama. All of the characters seem to seek out adventure, blissfully unaware of the danger they may be putting themselves in, but they often find themselves on the right side of the situation in the end.

Personality: May is happy, expressive, adventurous and naive. She's not really a  hero or a villain, as she's still a little girl, so innocent is really the "trait" I would ascribe to her.

Her backstory is that she often seems to unknowingly find her way into trouble. A precious gem stolen by crooks mistakenly found its way to her, and she blissfully carries it around. The crooks continuously embark on failed missions to retrieve said article from her, much like a roadrunner and coyote archetypal relationship.

I kept her eyes large, and I wanted her to have a bright open smile. I used the school girl influence from Kakegurui for her style. I tried to convey that she's bright, innocent, full of life, and kind.
