Magnolia Flower

Magnolia Flower - student project

Recently, I have found a new fav flower, the magnolia. I was thinking to do warm up session and draw magnolia before I starts with my works. I saw your class on skillshare using pen and ink. I think this is it!

All this while. I have been using cross-hatching for my sketches so for this project, I challenged myself to do stipples mode. :D I used 005 and 04 Micron pens and Canson paper size 6in. by 4in.

Note: I had to take pictures using my camera phone as I am doing this project at my workplace. Plus, our scanner at my office is only black and white. :( I hope this is clear enough.

Here goes:

1) My quick practice exercise.

2) Drawing outlines of magnolia flower and as you can see I have started doing the stipple modes.

I began with drawing circles - this is again exercise from Amarilys Henderson - Start with shape .

3) The final outcome.

I used cross-hatching for the branches.

Overall:

Doing stipples mode is quite challenging. I can understand how this kind of styles -stipples- can take longer period to finish. I hope to continue doing more of this. Motivation is needed! XD XD
