I needed to make something as a goodbye gift and thought Macarons would be the best thing. They are so pretty and delicious and everyone loves them!
I first had macarons in Los Angeles at Bottega Louie about 8 years ago.My favorite flavor is pistachio :p. At my old job, one of my coworkers was obsessed with making macarons. He would experiment with new flavors and have us try them. I made macarons with him once and since he did most of the work, they came out great!
I have attempted to make macarons since then. However, they have never come out perfectly. This class was really helpful, especially the macaronage part. I used another recipe to create these macarons. Most of the techniques I used came from this class though. I LOVED using the templates. They were perfect. Thank you for providing us with those. They made piping so much easier.
For one of my batches , I forgot to take out the template :$ ! thankfully, that only happened once.
They came out looking pretty, however, they were still hollow. I think it is because I baked them for too long. I'm going to experiment with the temperature and time settings on my oven for the next batch.
I made a vanilla buttercream filling for the left one. Then I mixed some nutella with the remaining buttercream to create the filling for the right one. For the dipped ones, I mixed crushed Ferrero Rochers with melted dark chocolate. The vanilla ones were the clear winners!
