Lucy Snigglefritz

I can't believe how easy it was to make a pattern! I've struggled with this exact thing in illustrator for YEARS! Thank you for creating this class. :)

For my project, I've been working on illustrating a series of kids books about a dog named Lucy Snigglefritz, so I thought it would be fun to make a pattern from her design and use it for mockups of fake merchandise - the kind I had as a kid like bedding, towels, lunch boxes, etc.

This is the progression from the hand drawn image which was scanned in, to the vectorization through to pattern creation.

1) Illustration - scanned and vectorized.

2) Initial output from scatterbrush

3) After tweaking the scatterbrush settings

4) Ungrouping and moving the elements around

5) Final pattern after adding a background and creating a bounding box, then dropping into the swatches panel
