Love is blindness

I loved this class, and I've been working so hard to create a project to submit. I enrolled a few weeks ago, and while I haven't practiced everyday, I've been a lot more diligent about practicing then I normally am.

Interestingly, I have a hand tremor, so calligraphy is a significant challenge for me. However, with practice (and calm) I find my tremor lessens, and I am able to be smoother and more precise in the work.

It's not perfect, but I am very proud of the finished product.

Here's an earlier version, but I think things got cleaner as I practiced.

This was the original inspiration. It's a line from a U2 song (but I especially love a cover by Trespassers William), and I wrote it just as practice and expression.

But I got really excited when I started to play with the forms of the letters, and I knew I wanted to submit this as my project. I used a Leonardt 30 nib, and an E+M holder with a bit of cork on it, which was great because I tend to grip very hard.

I love how messy calligraphy is.

I will practice more, and I will probably come back to this concept again. Thanks for a great class, and good luck to all the other beginning calligraphers!
