Love and Bliss

May 4, 2014

I took a detour on the 'love and bliss' project due to another that needed my attention. My sister was graduating college and needed a graduation announcement to send out to family and friends. I thought, what better way to use my recent learnings from this class and create a beautiful lettered invitation for her. Check out the finished piece!

Working on the digital version of the sketch now. Having issues with the 'v', not sure how to build it (I'm using the lowercase 'l' as the guide) but wondering how to finish the right side without it looking like a 'u'. The ending/bottom of the 'e' seems unfinished and needs more weight. Also working through flourish off the 'e'. Learning the anchor stems need to be consistent.

I've chosen the words "Love and Bliss" as my project and have started with a rough sketch. Using flourishes to help create a balanced composition/lock-up. Looking to see how the L and B interact, may try a few versions. I am interested in which letter I should use with the bottom flourish, I've chosen the "i" but not sure if that's the best way to go. Also, I am going to play with the angle/slant of the letterforms overall as they may be a little too upright for my taste. Any advice/tips appreciated. Thanks in advance!
