This was a great course! I did things a little differently than Vanessa since I'm trying to fill up my sketchbook this summer. So I sketched directly in there and painted on top of the sketch. I think this made things look kinda messy since the gouache sealed in the pencil lines and I couldn't erase them.
My gouache was kind of patchy as I was filling it in, not sure why that was. I was using a cheap set I got years ago so many the paint wasn't great quality. But I tried to do transparent washes like Vanessa and it just ended up looking really uneven so I went a little more opaque.
The lighter colors were the hardest to get to apply evenly. As you can see when I tried to add blush to her cheeks it just lifted up the skin color and gave her weird pale patches. Poor girl.
I took a photo of the piece in my sketchbook and then I scanned the page itself, cleaned it up and photoshopped it to look like the nice polished one was in my sketchbook. My life is a lie and now you know my secret!
