Lights and Shadows in Watercolor

Lights and Shadows in Watercolor - student project

I loved this class! Thank you Sweta for translating great techniques in a beautiful painting.

I was really excited to take this class when I saw it on instagram. This kind of painting, with big washes and interesting color mixes, is one of my favorites styles in watercolor. And I really want to improve my landscape skills...

BUT, the only problem when it comes to this kind of painting is that I don't have cotton paper yet, so I knew the outcome would turn out a bit different for me. Working big washes in a paper that dries quickly is definitely a challenge... but I'm grateful for the practice anyway and I'm happy with my final piece.

The shadow layer for the front wall ended up a bit too dark... more water next time!
