Levels of Merit - FINAL

Step 1: Selecting Your Text

After much debate, I chose to write my screenplay over the "Tom Merritt" poem from The Spoon River Anthology.  I'm also going to incorpoate the poem "Mrs. Merritt" as well.  I was able to come up with more ideas for these poems than I was for other poems, but I think these two had interested me the most anyway.  I'll be focusing mainly on the character of Tom Merritt, and his situation that comes to be.

Step 2: Drafting Your Screenplay

This is very different and, in my opinion, much better than what I had started with.  I had written four different drafts in total.  The story was approached differently in each one, but I think I have finally written something I'm going to stick with (as if I have a choice at this point).  Thank you to the people who took the time to read, comment, and/or like this screenplay.

Step 3: Writing Your Logline

LOGLINE:

Tom Merritt finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time after catching his wife in the act of adultery.
