I've been doing Spencerian quite religiously for the past year, so my strokes naturally gravitate to being 'Spencerian-y'. My challenge/goal for this 10 day workout is to break a little more free of the strict rules of how I learnt Spencerian and see if I can find something unique to me in it!
I really liked playing with the shapes here, and focusing on the breath was something I hadn't thought of before.
I really liked this exercise, especially experimenting with new slants! There's something about the no-slant (vertical) version that appears to me, as well as experimenting with wider spacing for my regular writing (the first one).
For my creative break I wanted to try freeing myself and writing with a really loose hand - so without the wrist or any part of the hand touching the paper, and just moving from the elbow. Here are the results!
I really liked the capital letter exercise and played with I and P, both of which I hate writing. I found a lovely 'I' I'm quite happy with.
This exercise I did not enjoy - I found it super hard to keep the same style with different and weird tools, and felt like most of the results were pretty ugly. But here it is nevertheless!
