Letterform for the Lord of the Flies

Why such a deep dark book like the Lord of the Flies:

It's really just because this is one of the books I read that really opened my eyes to what literature could do and how meaningful symbols can be in a story. I read it first when I was 12 and then again when I was 17, both times it felt different and I took away different messages.

Although the book is dark, I find it actually quite hopeful in that Ralph, the books protagonist, manages to recignize that his friends have turned into savages and actively decides not to participate even though they have food and supplies which he needs.
