Letterboxing Stamp

My dad had recently introduced me to a new hobby of Geocaching, which is basically a giant egg hunt/treasure hunt for everyone around the world. You receive coordinates for a cache (container) and you set out to find it, sign the log, swap out goodies and move on to the next. If anything, its an excellent excuse to get outside and take a nice walk.

Along with the traditional Geocaches, there is something called Letterboxing, which very similar but you collect custom made stamps from the hidden container and stamp your own signature stamp in the log book.

Intrigued, I jumped on the opportunity to create a personal stamp and start collecting stamps that others had made, furthering myself into this new silly yet addicting hobby.  Just look at all those great designs!

I was so happy to see that there is a class offering tips on how to design a stamp to be made.

I have a tattoo on my forearm that I thought would make for a unique and personable signature stamp, so I snapped a picture and uploaded it into Illustrator where I started recreating and simplifying the design.

My "tag name" on the Geocaching and Letterboxing websites is TheWanderingDuh, so I wanted to incorporate that into the stamp in some way. This is where I'm at so far.

I've had this stamp for quite a while now and have put it to use in a few local letterboxes I've found. One I cut it down and mounted it to the block, this is what is ened up looking like.
