Letter to my future self

Letter to my future self - student project

Dear Alex,

Its me... or should I say, you! The year is 2020, and you probably remember the confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm at home in Mexico City, counting the days to finally being able to go outside without looking like I'm heading to an OR.

I'm sure you remember all we did during these days at home, how we coped with the uncertainty and fear, the social distancing, the boredom and the resolutions we made in order to stay productive, active and to grow as better human beings.

Enough about 2020. How are you?, What year is it?, How is your life in our future?

I am sure you found your true purpose in life, that one thing that made you happy and filled you with excitement each day, because you know it counts and it makes a difference for you and for many others. To this I can honestly say: congratulations!, because you know how many days we spent trying to figure out my purpose, and right now I feel I'm in the brink of getting it figured out.

I'm excited and nervous at the same time to know what the future holds for us, but one thing I've learned is that now is the right time, now is when I have to fight to be happy... not later. And on that note, this is the advise I will give you, hoping it will help you in the future: live each day with all your being, be present, be thankful, savor life's little surprises and indulgences, remember that it's ok to make new friends and to keep in touch with them, be kind to all, but specially to you.

I'm sure you can still agree that we've been blessed with a wonderful life, with lots of joyful moments, but some very sad; with lessons that sometimes hurt but made us stronger; and with people that always taught us to be a better man.

Please know that whatever happened in the future, I'm already proud of you and I can't wait to see you... or should I say, me!

With great admiration,

Alex C.
