Let's do it!!

I want to focus...

I think this is going to be a good space for reflecting on my own behaviors and learn from the experiences of others to discover what I need to improve .

For instance, I didn’t want to start this project today. Why? Well… because I don’t think it will be complete or done right (in the way I imagine it should be done).

I guess this is one of the things I’ve struggled more over the years. The fact that I feel everything should be perfect, at least on my own idea of what perfect means... Sometimes I don’t know what that “perfect” or “best I can do” will be, so I keep trying until I’m pretty satisfied with the end result, and sometimes it's not productive time-wise. But thinking about it, makes me realize two things:

1. When I decide to get something done, It takes lots of time to finish.

2. On many occasions (depending on the complexity of the project) I procrastinate for this reason to only get hands on it when I’m on a deadline and don’t have other option than to start no matter if it's going to fulfill my own standard or not.

So I went against my own instinct and instead of waiting for a better time, I started this journey right now,    even if it’s not perfect (and even if my English is not great! Spanish is my first language… lol!)  and to be honest I already feel great about it! maybe is the fear of not knowing what the outcome will be what prevent us/me of starting things...

I'm exited to see were this program takes me!

This is are the results of my quiz:

Beyond the quiz, I see myself as a great collector, or at least I really, really enjoy doing that phase. Not so good at reviewing everything frequently, maybe because during the "collect" phase I usually end up with lots of stuff, and eventually there is so much info, that I don't know where to start or feel lazy to process and organize all that info.

So today I'm starting Phase 1. I've opted for installing Things on my mac, and I can't wait to start using it!  I already have Evernote, but it will need some organizing, because there's a lot of info I've collected into separated different areas.

May 24, 2014

I started yesterday and after going through many of my notes, both digital and physical I came up with 82 open loops. In some sense I feel relieved that everything is going to be in one place! :)

My Email inbox is empty! wow! those two softwares (https://mailstrom.co   /  https://unroll.me) were very helpful, above all unroll.me

Not only I have an empty inbox, but now all subscriptions that are not that important will arrive in a single email. That's awesome.

Ready to start the next phase...

I'm done with phase 2. I've noticed that once of the things I need to change is to make the effort to concentrate on the next single task until it's finished instead of trying to understand the whole picture first. Its like I want to see all the videos before starting, and that means, yes, more procrastination! Instead I want to take immediate action on the next actionable item without worrying too much about what comes next ahead of time.

My Projects and Areas:

May 27, 2014

I'm done with phase 3 and changed/eliminated some areas and projects from the previous step, so my system could be more organized and clear.

Here's a snapshot of my current Evernote configuration.

I already had Evernote and for the first time in a long time I manage to organize everything there thanks to this course project!

Each step I feel more motivated because everything starts to falls in his place and I can have order and control over my tasks. That's awesome!
