I am still trying to learn how to use the native drawing tools and other tools in Ai and particularly on iPad.  After practicing some more with the parrot exercise, I worked on my own sketch and also had some practice with some clipping masks to give my drawing some nice texture.  I took a picture of a wooden door in our farmyard that had cracked paint and also some cracked old dry mud.  I laid them both over the top of the drawing to make it look weathered.  It made my very BASIC drawing look a lot better.
