Learning calligraphy

Hello! My name is Deborah, I'm a 24 year old graphic designer from Rio, Brazil. I've recently discovered a passion for lettering and when I saw this class I also got really excited to learn calligraphy.

My goal is to find that special style and apply it to my work.

-----------------------------------

On my first day of practice I had difficulties with finding the right angle to position my hand and the nib, and also with keeping everything on a straight line. It was really fun to do, though. I also struggled with the "O"s. Each one turned out completely different from the other.

Here is a picture of my first practice:

----------------------------

On my second day of practice, I started doing the same exercise from the day before. I'll try doing these as a warm up every day. Surprisingly it was a lot easier! It's still not perfect, but I'll get there. The "O"s are a mess. hehe

In this picture you see the alphabet I did tracing over the template.

And here are the letters from A - M that I drew by looking at the template.

Next time I'll trace some guidelines so it doesn't turn out like this.

-------------------------------

I'm loving to practice calligraphy! I know it's all about doing it again and again to get a good result, so I'll keep on going. I'll post pictures of my progress as I go.

Thank you for reading!
