Learn how to build a training regiment and stick to it

I'm fat.  I've slowly gained a few pounds each year and am now over 200lbs.  I'm tall, 5'8" for a female and already have quite a bit of strength, max DL 245, though technique was a mess, squat 195 and bench 115 within a short time after starting to lift.  I've cut back on my numbers to focus on technique and form.

2 years ago I lost 25lbs using a stationary bike and reducing the amount of soda, replacing it with water.  I was able to keep the weight off for a while, but over the last 6 months or so I've gained it back. 

There are 3 areas that I would like to focus on:

1. Keeping a consistent gym schedule and training program - lifting & cardio

2. Improve eating habits and drink less sugary drinks

3. Quit smoking

It's through these changes that I hope to achieve my goal of weight loss, as well as make exercise and healthy eating my lifestyle.


My long term goal is to reach 160lbs or a size 8 jean in 6 months.  It may be an ambitious goal, but I need to kick my own ass into gear and if it takes longer than that, that's fine, so long as I am seeing progress.
