II.    Book Description

Threatened being cut off financially for his debauchery by his father, Richard seduced and married Lady Harriette, a beautiful young heiress, with the sole purpose of securing his future. He married her, and against his will, he fell deeply in love with her. Lady Harriette vows she loves him in spite of his past; she believes in him. Now faced with the loss of his inherited estate owing to an embezzlement scheme by a trusted employee, and subsequently the loss of his wife's esteem, he must recover his stolen fortune before anyone finds out, especially his father-in-law Lord Stafford, who having opposed the marriage, is intent upon seeing him fail.

Status: Work in progress. Currently reads more like a blurb.

Target Date for completion:  May 5, 2013

III.     Author BIO

P O Dixon writes Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice adaptations with one overriding purpose in mind—falling in love with Darcy and Elizabeth again and again. Her initial exposure to Pride and Prejudice was in 2007. For the first time in her decidedly career-centric life, she saw the 2005 film. Finding it too spellbinding for a single viewing, she watched it at least two times a day for as many weeks. She determined she needed to know much more about the brooding hero. She then read the novel, along with several excellent 'what-if' books that told the story from Mr. Darcy's perspective. One day, she came across a link to the online Jane Austen fan fiction community. Her life has never been quite the same.

Status: 90% complete

Target Date for completion:  May 5, 2013

IV.     Media page / Media Kit

Prepare one page fact sheet for the Lady Harriette.

Status: Not started. Once the book is released, the buy links will be included in the document. In the interim, it will be sent to potential ARC readers.

Target Date for completion:  May 5, 2013 (Initial version without buy URL) and June 5, 2013 (final version.)

V.      Get Reviews

This is an area where I need all the help I can get. Sales are good but reviews are far and between. One of my tasks is to send out ARC copies. This will be a first. In addition, I will cultivate relationships with bloggers in the genre.

Status: In progress. Building key contacts list.

Target Date for Completion: June 15, 2013

VI.          Blogging Further

I have participated successfully in blog tours; the last resulted in additional followers. Now, I will add a “call to action” designed to increase followers and subscribers to my blog hop posts.

I will add the Tweet Old Post Twitter plug-in to my WordPress blog.

Target Date for Completion:       June 5, 2013

VII.         Guest Posting

I will begin reaching out to genre specific bloggers to post excerpts, character interviews, and discussions on the book’s theme. I plan to offer ebook and paperback giveaways in conjunction with the posts.

Target Date for Completion:       June 15, 2013

VIII.        Ethical Bribe

I envision many opportunities to use the information presented in this part of the class. The “Notification bar” and the “Bottom of Every Post” plug-in are two features I’d like to incorporate into my blog. I spoke with my web hosting company to determine what steps I need to execute to take advantage of WordPress features. My next step is to enhance my existing WordPress blog.

I also plan to add an Opt-In form to About Page and start building a subscriber database.

Target Date for Completion:       May 30, 2013

IX.           Quora / Author Tagline

I already have an author tagline; however, it is very niche/genre specific. It is shown on my website, my blog(s), my email signature, and my Author Page. This new release affords an opportunity to expand my existing fan base beyond the current niche to Regency romance readers in general. The tagline needs to be broader.

In addition, I will register with Quora and begin using its tools to attract new followers.

Target Date for Completion:       May 15, 2013

X.            Commit to Twitter

I am a heavy twitter user; however, I see room for improvement. I intend to make better use of hashtags. I will look for more opportunities to engage in conversation as well.

Target Date for Completion:       May 1, 2013

XI.           Paid Ads

I have used Google Adwords and Microsoft AdCenter since I published my first book in October 2010. Honestly, I do not know how to gauge the cost effectiveness of those venues. On the other hand, between the two of them, the monthly budget is $50 ($35 and $15, respectively). This is far below the recommended budgets. The Adwords click through rate is 1.06%.

I recently began promoting select Facebook posts. I feel that is a more cost effective approach because a larger audience is reached.  Hence, I plan to allocate greater paid advertising dollars to Facebook post promotions for the new release.

Target Date for Completion:       June 30, 2013
