LOUD-o-saurs | Skillshare Projects

So this is the final. I think I kind of overdid it on the texturing bits but I figured it kind of adds to the LOUDNESS.

I forgot to take adding a pattern into account when sketching this out. I really was most interested in learning to add texture to vector art. I had fun but I wanted to wrap this up to get on to some new classes.

Just for the record this was (kind of) what it looked like before adding the texture.

This was a lot of fun and I learned a ton. Thanks a lot for reading this and good luck with your projects.

So I started drawing things out in illustrator a few months back. Picked a color scheme and started rolling but I just wasn't feeling it. Then *EXCUSES* happened and I stopped working on it for a while.

Here's what it looked like at that point:

But I have a bunch of other classes I want to take and I can't leave this guy unfinished so here we are.

I went back in a redrew it without being so beholden to the sketch with the idea of making it LOUD and BIG. I also changed the color scheme to straight up hot colors; reds, oranges and yellows.

Here's where I was after redrawing the central guy:

After phutzing about with it some more I've ditched the whole explosives angle and it's now just a volcano erupting and a couple of dino's shrieking in terror. I figure that's probably pretty loud.

I'm planning around the idea of using texture to seperate some of the elements that might not necessarily pop without it. For instance the background explosion is all hot colors (just like the foreground characters) but will hopefully provide contrast through a super rough texture.

More to come and thanks for reading.

So I decided to go with LOUD. I've been working on a kind of contemplative, easy-going picture book idea so the chance to go in the other direction sounded fun.

I kind of had a hard time coming up with a lot of words that would describe 'loud'. Once I had dinosaurs and heavy metal I had a hard time getting away from things that would, at least in my mind, compliment those images.

In the end I wound up getting all excited about creating a bunch of explosives-expert dinosaurs called the Dyna-Saurs (dynamite plus dinosuars...I'm a cheeseball) but a quick Google search revealed that the name is already taken. Maybe. If not...DIBS. I call dibs.

Anyway after playing around with a few different layouts I decided to go with the one highlighted below. It's a commentary on man's self-destructive tendencies using the dinosaurs as symoblis...just kidding. It's a picture of dinosaurs blowing up stuff.
