Knit a Sweater: A Beginner's Guide

CLASS TITLE: Knit a Sweater: A Beginner's Guide  (Feb 16, 2017)

CLASS DESCRIPTION: In this extensive two hour class, I'll show knitters how to knit their very first sweater. This class is best for knitters who are comfortable knitting in the round with circular and double pointed needles.

By the end of the class, students will have all the tools to knit a classic raglan sweater.

CLASS PROJECT: For the class project, you'll be knitting a sweater for yourself or a loved one. Complete your class project in three steps:

1. Choose a yarn and needle size that meets the knitting gauge for the sweater. Post this to your class project.

2. Take a photo of your sweater once you've split the sleeves from the body and post it to your class project.

3. Take a photo of your final blocked raglan sweater and post it to your class project. You're done! You're now a domestic god/goddess, capable of wrangling loose yarn into a real, wearable sweater. High five!

CLASS OUTLINE

This is a very long class - a little over two hours - because it goes through every aspect on how to knit a sweater. It is very thorough!

I've broken up the class into 20 chapters. We start at the very beginning, discussing the practical necessity of getting "gauge" in order to determine the kind of yarn and needles to use and then we move on step-by-step to the very last aspect of sweater-knitting, which is blocking for a perfect fit.
