Kittie's Last Stand

I've made a few zines over the years but loved the format for these one page zines. I brainstormed a bunch of ideas, drew some storyboards, sat at my desk and ended up just making something completely random up instead.

I have a bunch of colored paper I bought by mistake so I knew I wanted this zine to use some of that up. I decided to draw the zine with a purple micron and print it on purple paper. Once I mapped out the paper format I drew a cat head and the title "Kittie's Last Stand" just sort of came to me. Once I had the title idea the rest of the pages came together really smoothly. Here are the layouts:

Here is the printed version:

I knew that I wanted to have the zine fold open to reveal a picture on the inside and that I wanted to have the cut part of the paper somehow become part of the illustration.

I really liked making this up as I went along, it was a great relief from all the carefully planned projects I'm working on right now. I'm definitely going to make more of these and try to use up the other colors of paper I have too much of!
