Finished poster:

I chose the artist Kishi Bashi to do my poster on. The date I am going to do the poster for is February 14, 2013 at Lincoln Hall in Chicago, IL.

Research:

Kishi Bashi is the stage name for K Ishibashi. The music is very playful & layered. The colors used in the artwork associated with him are bright and happy. There are a lot of purples, yellows, and blues. I am thinking of sticking to this type of color palette. Also, there is a play between what is real and imaginary.

Sketching:

My first idea is a paper cut out idea insipired by this:

My second idea is to try and incorporate something from Chicago to make the poster unique to the date:

My third idea is using the idea of hearts since it will be taking place on Valentine's day. Like the previous idea it will make the poster more unique to the specific performance.

I want to layer a few designs on top of each heart & make the type cut out in the center.

Progress:

I didn't have much time to work on it this week but this is how far I've gotten.

I've picked a few fonts that I need to narrow down.
