K. Friedgen's 2 Photoshoots: Dog Collars & Product Styling

FIRST PHOTOSHOOT: Dog Collars

I used two umbrella lights and two cleaned whiteboards to shoot a few dog collars.

Here is a view of the setup (unedited photo):

And here is the first shot I edited from the shoot:

I found the white gradient trick to be helpful, but I'm finding it difficult to get a happy medium between the shadows of the collar against the white backdrop.

SECOND PHOTOSHOOT: Styled Product Shoot

With this shoot I used mutiple back drops: White, Colored (tan) and wood (texture).

Difficulties:

  • Keeping color consistent when using the white background.
  • Reducing the reflections off of the wood texture (shiny-ness)
  • Picking the right back drop for the personality of the shoot.

Utilities:

  • I used 2 umbrella lights and didn't have a tripod.
  • Double sided tape to keep products laying how I'd like.

Conclusions:

In the end I'm pleased with how the shoot came out, but I can see my weaknesses and know that those will help me going forward.

Thanks,

Katharine
