I took Elizabeth's class and it really astonished me in how much detail she did explain her process. Loved her class - so much inspiration there.
First I made a little moodboard as she suggested. I love the midcentury era and especially the Tiki Bar connotations to my projects. How cute is this Toucan lamp from this era? (I need to find one on Ebay)
Second I draw a few sketches just to think about the animals I would like to feature. After a few revisions I jumped right into Illustrator, the program I know really good. Elizabeth mentioned that she fills up the space of her pattern and I loved this idea, because it looks better this way. For this purpose I've added the splashes, I also think they add a fun element to the design.
Third I put up the design on Spoonflower and ordered a test swatch (which turned out pretty great). Now you can buy my design on Spoonflower and I might invest even more time into this in the future. I think this is really fun! This is my final design and my pillow mockup:
Thanks for the class!
