Here is a new map I've been working on. I printed out a map of Europe on cotton muslin and embroidered the first trips we did as a family. Very nice memories behind all of these little red lines! Still trying to decide what I'll do with it when it's done...maybe a pillow or a wall-hanging.
Hello everyone! My name is Jillian and I'm currently living in Northern Italy (although I'm Canadian by birth). I decided to do this class because I've always had a fascination with maps. I've traveled extensively throughout the world (with and without kids) and I can always be found with a crumpled up map of some kind in my pocket.
I'm currently writing a "Traveling With Kids" column for an American creative parenting blog (http://www.classic-play.com/?s=traveling+with+kids) and I thought it would be great if I could include some customized maps of our trips. I also blog at http://jillianinitaly.wordpress.com and write about our life in Italy, great places to visit and our creative endeavors. Again, making maps for these posts would be perfect.
I actually even ended up marrying a mapper. My husband works in remote sensing and humanitarian aid for third world countries that experience natural disasters. Interesting stuff!
One goal I have is to put together a map of our recent trip to Morocco in the coming weeks. Wish me luck.
A quick hand drawn map my daughter and I did of the lake that we live on. I'm sure the distances are completely inaccurate.
