Janet's Patterns

Here are my first contrasting sketches. Solid/liquid is the contrast--rocks and a rushing river. Solid shapes versus thin moving lines for the idea of fluid movement. I am a complete "newbie" when it comes to Illustrator, so I have yet to put my sketches into the pattern maker program.

Idea number two--The forest and the trees as contrasting ideas. Forest is from a larger perspective is vertical (as in "higher perspecive."  Pinecone represents the tree--is a part of the tree in the forest--as in a more close-up detailed view and is horizontal.

I have yet to figure out how to apply these sketches to create patterns as outlined.
