Isometric Buildings

Isometric Buildings - student project

I started by going through other students' projects as inspiration. I had no clue what I would tackle with this project, so I wanted to see what everyone else was working on. The student that did the city really inspired me, but I knew I didn't have the time to commit to that big of a project. Instead, I went a little smaller.

I got a new Wacom pad a few days before and I've been working on small projects to get used to the new screen. I sketched these up in Photoshop. You can tell that there were a few things that I couldn't decide on.

Here's the line work for the final image that was created in Illustrator. I changed the roof of the far away building, added a fire escape, changed the look of the door, and a few other minor things. I also completely forgot about the Awesome Actions, so I did all of this by hand. It took way longer than I anticipated (a few hours at most).

Here's the final piece. I decided to go with simple colors and I love the clean look. There's a few things I would tweak and I know the alignment would be so much better if I had remembered to use the action items. But overall, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out especially with this being my first time doing this.

Thank you for this class. I had a lot of fun.
