Intro to Copperplate Calligraphy

I was so happy to find this class! Thank you, Doris, for creating and posting it.

And a big thanks for the exemplars and guidelines. I am planning to get your practice set soon. I am sure it will be helpful to trace the letters!

So, here are my first pages of practice as I take one lesson at a time.

I use Nikko G nib in a fountain pen just for the ease of it. As soon as I get the logistics down, I will practice with an oblique pen. I guess, there are pros and cons to the my current pen, but I like it so far.

Switched to dip pen with Walnut ink and larger guidelines sheet. New discovery - it's easier to write bigger size letters on blank paper (though it wasn't a good sturdy paper)!

My friends husband wrote it for her when they were young. I need to write it for their Anniversary - my gift to them. So, I keep practicing and playing with styles. The words are beautiful!

Doris, how would you approach this? Do I need to this in pencil first? I'd like to add some simple flourishes too. Thank you -

Lower legs of Rs are looking funny. Will be working on them more.

Oh, my poor Ds..... will work on you more!

Loved to write As and Ns, second leg of M is a bit confusing. Enjoy the flourishing, but better pay attention to letter form right now.

My "r"s and "s"s are not uniform, I have a hard time to produce a correct form. Interestingly, "x" was not a problem.

Not liking "p"s and second row of "k"s. Love the "f"s.

Not sure about "o"s, I mean about the width of them.

More to come!

Thank you,
