Did you know that 80% of what we communicate is non verbal? Why are online dating sites suggesting we communicate (especially when trying to find love) through profiles?
Online dating sites suggest we advertise ourselves by a) what we are - such as I'm a professor or I'm a real estate agent and/or b) what we have - such as I have a PHD or I own a business.
Online dating sites are not helping us advertise the fundamental reason why people are mainly attracted to each other in the first place: who we are. We're clever, we're funny, we're kinda shy but have a wild side, we're loud and we make funny facial expressions.
The fact is, we can't show our personalities on online dating sites and that's a problem. Along with fake profiles, misleading photos and ineffective matchmaking, dating sites just don't work.
We're working on a video dating app where users will meet people through video profiles. We believe body language, tone of voice and personality is whats going to help our users find their true matches and we're going to do it through video.
1. List all major “players” in the system (eg. a marketplace may have two major players: buyers & sellers)
a. iOS Users
b. Advertisers (maybe)
2. List out any selfish reasons why each player would need their contacts/friends to join the service
a. To ask their friends to help rate video profiles of others user they may be interested in
(#4) The player would be motivated to need their contact to help make a better choice about who they should stay connected with. Users can only connected with 3 people at a time. The users friends will hep decide who the user should stay connected with. Peer influence.
3. List out all things you could possibly charge each player for on the service
a. To connect with more potenial dates through private messaging
(#4) The player would be motivated to pay for the service because they may want to connect with more people.
b. Advertisment for video ads.
(#4 Advertisers) Every users is intended to watch ever video profile that shows up in thier serach results because videos don't have thumbnails, only a logo. Therefore giving advertisers more exposure to their video ads.
