Inner + Outer Strength

I run a restaurant. My working day starts around 10am and finishes around 11pm, 6 days a week. Although we close the restaurant for a break between 3pm and 6pm, as the owner there is often something to do, suppliers or clients to follow-up, paperwork, marketing, admin ... the list goes on. Sometimes I get some time out in this slot, but it can be random and interrupt driven. My time does not feel my own some days.

I train with a personal trainer on a Monday morning, getting up earlier to make sure I get my training done. It feels good and is a boost to start the week. Sunday I rest. The other days are a crap-shoot.

My main goal is to build muscle - get a good, toned body. My body fat needs to drop a few points to help this but I don't want to lose weight. I know that to do this I need to hit the gym more often, and make sure my nutrition is on track.

Goals - Long Term

Build Muscle. Tone up. Correct Body Imbalances.

Goals - Short Term

100 Push Ups by Spring
1 Pull Up by Spring
Squat Body Weight by Spring
Run 5K by Summer

Prerequisites

Measure Body Fat and decide where I want to be (Book a consultation at the gym)
Stop reading (procrastinating) fitness/workout plans, pick one and start 2-3 times a week
Assess current nutrition and adjust accordingly (MyFitnessPal app)

Being holistic, this outer strength will come from, and go hand-in-hand with an inner strength. Support for committing to these goals will be key, as well as developing my own inner dragon to stay Strong - hence the choice of cover photo which represents "Standing your ground and fighting, staying committed to a cause, and having the willpower to abandon bad habits. When this card represents another person, it can be a lawyer or patron at your side. If it reflects you, the change you are about to undergo will leave you more self-assured than ever."

Despite 2 years working with a trainer, my body weight has not changed. I can see I am becoming more toned and have developed some new lean muscle, but compared to others who have made great changes I haven't yet found the right path to achieve the goals that should be possible. I am considering seeking out some business coaching as well as that may help improve my business performance which in turn may create more time to achieve my personal goals.

Update

I have download the MyFitnessPal app to help track calories so I can assess what I am eating and make sure it's enough. I have a bunch of other apps, but the ones that I will use most are 100 Pushups and Stronglifts to track progress on these programs. I will post more about the apps over on my Fitocracy account: http://ftcy.me/eTEihT

I also started the Stronglifts 5x5 program yesterday at the gym and am committed to train 2-3 times per week, including one session with my regular personal trainer.

I changed my breakfast to natural yoghurt on berry granola with a teaspoon of organic blackberry jam. Planning to add a scoop of whey protein to this in due course as my trainer said that protein is important in the morning for my goals.
