Initial Sketches

Initial Sketches - student project

While my husband is the green thumb in our family, I'm the caretaker of our (fairly robust) herb garden, which was the inspiration for my first set of sketches.

My husband and I are also foragers.  Mostly for food sources (think mushrooms, ramps, asparagus, etc.), but come fall and winter, we look for dried reeds, branches, and brambles to decorate our home.  That was my second source of inspiration.

I chose a quote for the handwriting part of this tutorial: "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit", Ralph Waldo Emerson. I tried it in a couple of different styles of handwriting (which is clearly not my strength, ha!).
