I started this class project by choosing the first autumn colour palette and trying to reproduce the colours with gouache. Illustrations for children- color studies - image 1 - student project

I then took some of these colours and created a mixed media illustration in my sketchbook, and I have to say it was not easy for me to keep the hues, as I like to give always a bit of 3D look at things, and overall I might have saturated a bit the colours that Claire gave us in the first Autumn palette... However, this colour combination feels to me really in tune with my own personality, a bit bold...and I liked it till the end!

After this, I felt inspired to create a Christmas illustration with my own color story, inspired also by the fresh news of LIVING CORAL as Pantone color of the year 2019. I choose this palette

This is the final image which I created digitally, from a pencil sketch.

After many month, I revisited this class, as Claire's colour expertise is always inspiring, and I tried a different colour palette, starting from her illustration with alluring peach background and flower bouquet made of red  and teal greens, although I couldn't resist to add some more warm colours to my own work... this was for me more a study on colour and value than a finished piece, and it felt a fun challenge!
