Illustrated Journaling

Illustrated Journaling - student project

First of all, I want to remark that I unfortunately don't have a lot of coloring tools at hand, at the moment which is why I am using what I have, gel or jelly pens.

For this journal prompt (Currently listening to ...), I chose Hikaru Utada's Stay Gold which was on her album Heart Station. This is what I was recently listening to.

Heart Station refers to a radio station, so I drew a radio from memory, also a heart and used yellow colors and twinkling signs as a reference to the gold referred to in the song title.

I also wrote out Hikaru Utada's name in japanese lettering.

For the next journal prompt (recently learned...) I chose something I heard on a podcast about meditation recently which I thought was quite an interesting take on the emotion of fear. According to this podcast, fear is a sacred emotion in that it shows us and connects us to human fragility, it is an energy that shows us that we are alive, and that the next step of fear can be growth. At the end of the day, life is unstable and fear is a part of it.

Because fear, although it is an emotion, is also something that we can grasp abstractly, just like sacredness. E.g. life can be associated with plants, sacredness can be associated with light (hence, the yellow color), and fear can be associated with movement, jitteriness,..etc.

For the prompt "Creating with..." I chose things that are related to what I do which is researching and writing and my most used (but not only) tools are what you can see in the image. And yes, I left space in the corner of this image.
