Illustrated Journaling 9/28 - 10/11 - student project

The first part of the 28 day self-care workshop. I've never worked this quick or  without pencil first. It's also new working with markers. Definitely a bit out of my comfort zone, which could help my other work.

For Day 4 I only had highlighters to work with at first along with a Pentel Color water brush. It's more for watercolor sketching, it comes as part of a set. The ink is not waterproof. I didn't have the control I like so it's a bit messy.

For Day 5 I decided to try using my Tombow Fudenosuke soft tip brush pen which I liked better than then ink brush. I think I like my composition best with this one since I worked larger.

For Day 6 I think I needed to make each icon larger. The white space is all you see.

For Day 13 I think I have a composition issue. Like I needed to make a few of the ingredients larger. I got a Pentel pigment ink brush pen so I'm still getting used to that. Also managed to dig up some of my Tombow brush markers.Illustrated Journaling 9/28 - 10/11 - image 5 - student project

For Day 14 I thought I'd try a thinner paper. I'd been using a sketchbook that had thicker paper for multimedia. It's rougher so I thought that may be causing my ink brush pen strokes to not be as smooth. It helped a bit, but I think I need more practice working with that pen to get the look I want. I should have also expanded the color palette so I could capture the Union Jack better.
