Update on March 13th.
I reorganized my work to make it easier to see at a glance. I uploaded the 4 patterns I created in this workshop with 2 additional color variations for each in my cover image.
And I attached it here as well.
Here is my reworked patterns from photographs. I didn't like my first one but I think this one is pretty. Bonnie, you are so right about needing to take time. I am discovering that I can't rush the creative process!
Update on March 12th.
Here are the 4 patterns that I created in this class. Thank you so much Bonnie.
I have uploaded (below)
1 watercolor pattern in 4 color variations (uploaded last week)
1 pattern from photographs in 4 color variations (I reworked this because I really didn't like my first version)
1 pattern from my hand drawn ink sketches of flowers in 6 color variations
1 pattern (pink) from hand drawn elements and some shapes created in Illustrator.
If you scroll to the very bottom, you will see a different watercolor pattern that I created in Bonnie's watercolor class.
They are here in no particular order!
Updated March 13th: (new, reworked pattern with flowers traced from photographs)
From photographs: old version - the one I really don't like!
From my hand drawn ink sketches of flowers:
This is for Mother's Day. I hand drew some elements and created vector shapes for others.
Update on March 8th.
Here is the recolored version in pinks and peaches.
Here are the motifs I created for this pattern.
Update on March 7th.
I rewatched Bonnie's watercolor for surface pattern design class to re-learn all the steps. I created motifs from my watercolor doodles, which frankly, I thought looked like blobs! But when everything came together, I was happy with this first attempt. I love the oranges I picked for the flowers but the greens and blues are too close in color. It's hard to tell I actually used 3 main color families.
I think I like the pattern best with a white background. But I included a few other backgrounds for added contrast.
I'm excited to recolor this tomorrow. xoxo to everyone!
I'm super intimidated uploading this photo of my attempts at watercolor motifs... But for Monday's assignment, here goes. I like the motifs that I drew from my flower pictures better but might be able to make something work from these watercolors.
Some of these are hand-drawn (and a little rough!) using my flower garden as inspiration. Others are traced from my photographs of specific flowers. In a few of the flowers, I took the time to select specific color combinations that I think are pretty. And the central "rose bouquet" is made up of separate elements that I think came together really nicely to make a "bouquet". I'm going to use the bouquet by itself on a Mother's Day card!
Hi again everyone!
Here is my inspiration board with flowers from my garden.
Here is my class assignment!
Moodboard with photos that inspired my two color palettes, the color palettes and my original watercolor art.
Here is my favorite version of my pattern:
And the second version of my pattern in pretty pinks:
Thank you Bonnie for a wonderful class! I did, however, struggle through the section on how to recolor my vectored pieces using the recolor tool.
I'll watch it again but I may need more detailed instructions on how you moved the bars around in that segment...You are so fast!!
