Learn shortcuts, tips and tricks along the way that will streamline your design workflow. As a bonus, students can download Anne’s Photoshop Cheat Sheet as well as a Resource Sheet which include valuable tools for illustrators.

This class is perfect for artists, designers and traditional media illustrators who already know how to draw but want to learn to turn those drawings into professional level digital illustrations. More experienced students will benefit from learning new methods and tricks for illustrating in Photoshop to work more efficiently.

Illustrate Your Pet!

ASSIGNMENT

Using Anne’s time-saving step by step process, transform a sketch of your pet (or a friend’s pet) into a dynamic illustration in Photoshop. You can also use the photos provided of Anne’s dog, Midji, to illustrate from. This assignment will cover the following steps:

  • Gathering Reference and Brainstorming
  • Using Reference and Brainstorming Results to Sketch
  • Creating Your Base Illustration
  • Adding Details
  • Shading Your Pet
  • Adding Textures and Other Finishing Touches
  • Making Easy Color Changes

DELIVERABLE

Share your before and after! Upload your finished project by including the following:

  • A Photograph of the Pet
  • Your Initial Sketch of the Pet
  • The Final Illustration of the Pet

Students who post their completed project in the project gallery can request to be emailed a one page PDF guide on how to submit your illustrations to manufacturers to be considered on products!
