Ice Cream!

Hi Guys! I've been fiddling around with .Ai for a while but have never really sat down to practice my skills and have used very rudimentary and long and boring ways of doing things, which never really allowed the freedom to create the stuff I wanted. So I'm taking this class and finding it awesome!!!!!

I had trouble choosing my print ad to work with as was unsure that some choices would be too easy, others too hard. But then I saw a great project in the projects section called "BEER" (you should check it out!) and really liked it though thought was too complicated for a basic beginner like me. But went ahead and checked out the artist she referenced.

I came across this gem by Mads Berg and as soon as I saw it had the desire to do it. Something about the colors and the topic. Then I saw all the subtle and not so subtle gradients and got really scared, but decided to give it a go anyway.

Here's my basic composition following the first part of the class. Still needs work on typography, ALL of the gradients, etc.

So I started playing around with gradients and got this far:

Any suggestions, critique, etc. on the grandients I made would be greatly appreciated. And if you check the original there are some white highlights on the left side of the ice cream, any help on buiding that as well would be appreciated! Thanks!

FINAL UPDATE!!!

Hi everyone! So I've playing around with gradients and such trying to get my replica ad to look more like the original and never really could get the white gradients to look as good as they do in the original. I also like my version better, I'm more into a cleaner aesthetic, but then again I'm 100% biased! :) **If anyone has tips on how to make those gradients in a way such that they will look the original, please let me know!

So I present you with original and replica and hope it is to your liking. Once again, if you have any critique, points of improvement or other comments please don't hesitate to give them!

Thanks to everyone who commented, liked, etc!
