IT ALL COMES DOWN TO YOU. | Skillshare Projects

"It all comes down to you..."

This is a lyric from a Kodaline song, and has become my mantra for EVERYTHING. It's a really versatile phrase that could have a lot of meaning for a lot of people. For me, it is a call to action.  So my inspiration was 1940s war posters.  "WE WANT YOU!" -- that sort of thing.  My only regret is that this happens to be a style that is a little simpler... so not quite so much need for all of the fun flourishes and decorative details, but there are a lot of other fun things going on with this time period, so even better :)  My thumbnails are super rough, but oh well.  Still working on the sketches, can't wait to see how they turn out!

I was THRILLED to find the "Color Harmony Guide". Not only does it create some great inspiration for the final piece, but the writing at the top offers a coupla great lettering ideas. Also REALLY digging the Harley poster and the "Victory Girl".

Here are SOME of my thumbnails (it's a little hard to know when to stop)...

Like I said, really rough. For some reason sky and clouds keep coming back to me for the background, but I really don't know how to relate that to the phrase. Anchors, Navy, etc all go with the War Poster theme, but I don't want to follow that precisely, either. Will have to keep thinking about ways to illustrate this.

Thanks for looking at my project!
