When negative emotions come, I use EFT, journaling, talking with a friend, self hypnosis, and especially meditation to handle them.

Meditation became easy for me once I learned to simply focus on my breath, as Thomas suggests.

My favorite breath technique involves using the peaceful imagery of waves.

  • As I inhale, I imagine my energy rising on a wave as it swells upward.
  • At the top of my breath, I pause at the peak of the wave.
  • On my exhale, I ride the wave down to its lowest point.

A few breaths like this, and I feel balanced and calm again.
