I Love Lines!
Every few months, Brisbane City Council runs city photowalks. They're led by a pro photographer and the groups are deliberately kept small. As we were walking through an open space on the way to the river when I spotted this carpark. Everyone else kept walking on, but I felt compelled to stop.
After (I couldn't resist doing a quick edit of the previous picture):
I loved the way the vertical installation broke up the lines of the spiral carpark. However, the fluorescent lights blew out the pictures I took, so I moved on. A little way along I came across another pleasing view of the installation that was nicely framed by two columns.
The edit: I applied a graduated filter to the overblown sky, recovered the highlights, cropped the image, applied some noise reduction and tweaked a few of the usual sliders. I was quite happy with the before image, so I was surprised at how much better I could make it look.
(Apologies for the cropped cover photo, I could not get the uploader to change to portrait orientation.)
(A few other people added extra pictures to their projects, so I thought I'd follow suit. I had a difficult time choosing which photo I'd post because the edit of this next photo was a lot more difficult and definitely more dramatic, and thus might provoke more discussion. I think it looks good but constructive feedback is always welcome.)
